A Photographer's Rambling - A Blog a Day

So, one of the things that stuck with me during our time at the conference in Las Vegas was how important blogging is.  In fact, blogging should be done once a day.  Once a day?  Yikes!  I mean, I know I can be long winded at times but I don't have THAT much to say.  However, that being said, I'm always up for a challenge.  So, keep an eye out because I am going to be filling this blog with either valuable information or contests along with current sessions and some of my favourite sessions from the past ten years.  Yep, ten years.  Hard to believe that Stolen Moment Photography by Candice has been around for ten years.  Can you believe that I actually remember every single wedding that we've done and most of our portrait sessions as well.  I've had clients call me up from eight years ago looking for a copy of their photos because they have moved and misplaced theirs and I can usually picture their faces, remember the session and get them a copy.  However, I have become even more organized as the years have gone on.

Did anyone make New Year's resolutions this year?  I typically do not because usually my resolutions are unattainable - like, I will go to the gym every day - pfffft, that will not likely happen!  I did, however, set some goals for myself.  I think goals are good as they give you something to strive for, but without a time limit.  I mean, if I can accomplish even one of my goals this year (I have three), I will be pleased.  I am not going to tell you these goals . . . not yet.  When I reach them, I will!  I will say that they all involve making Stolen Moment Photography one of the best photo studios in Alberta for quality and customer service!

I also took away from our conference some solid ideas on how to improve my editing time which means that I will hopefully get your proofs to you even faster!  And without me staying up until the wee hours trying to finish all the sessions during our busy season.

You will see some changes coming soon as well.  You may have noticed, I changed the look of our website.  I thought the black looked kind of dreary and we are anything but dreary.  If you've had a session with us, you know that David and I are both outgoing and love to laugh and want you to enjoy your session.  Other changes you will see within the next couple of months are package changes for all three areas of our photography - Portrait, Wedding and Maternity/Newborn.  I plan to bring in even higher quality albums (yet still keeping the price as reasonable as I can and within the reach of everyone's budgets), more add ons - these are exciting!  There are so many kinds of prints available now a days.  I mean, have you ever heard of a pop out photo?  These are large wall splits that have some raised to make it look 3 dimensional!  Wall clusters are great in themselves!  You can build a cluster out of one session, or you can design a collage wall, with our help,  that you can add to over multiple sessions - whether that be a few year or a few months.  There are metal prints, canvas prints, framed prints, bamboo prints, gallery blocks!  The list is huge!  And incase you are worried that the DVD may not be around forever, you can also ask for your session to be put on a flash drive for a slight up-charge.  And, you will also see a change in the way that we package your orders.  I know this isn't a big deal, but it is just a little added detail to show how special these moments caught in time really are.

So, with that being said, I think I should get back to designing our new packages!  I will leave you with a photo that I shot while in Vegas the day after our conference ended.
