On Saturday, David and I had the privilege of photographing Lindsay and Jeff's wedding. They have been together for 18 years and it was so beautiful to see the love between them during this day. After a lot of snow the night before and the morning of, David and I headed to the Oasis Conference Centre to photograph Lindsay's getting ready photos in their beautiful bridal suite. Marthe, the amazing wedding coordinator at the Oasis Centre and her team already had the dress hanging and the flowers placed on a beautiful table when we got there. I cannot say enough about how amazing Marthe was to work with. I can only imagine how amazing she was for Lindsay and Jeff! The room smelled of the beautiful bouquets done by Studio Bloom. The first to show up was Lindsay and Jeff's oldest daughter, Skyla followed shortly after by Lindsay and her maid of honour and twin sister, Audra. They had come from getting their hair and makeup done at The Rock in St. Albert. There was plenty of time for the getting ready photos because everything was happening at the Oasis. It was so much fun hanging out with these ladies prior to the actual getting ready. At one point, Audra comes running into the sitting area saying, "she glued my eye open!" Followed by Lindsay who is killing herself laughing. Shortly after, while Audra was trying to unglue her eye, I took a photo of her looking in the mirror just as she was about to unstick it. Ooops - but it made all of us laugh all over again. Lindsay has had her dress since the Bridal Fantasy of 2006. Jeff and her attended that show and found a dress that she fell in love with. It has been hanging in her closet ever since. It was stunning. There was a slight hiccup when Lindsay started to get ready and it was discovered the straps needed alternating, but a very close friend who helped raise Lindsay was there to help and get things back on track. Meanwhile, David was across the hall getting some photos of the guys getting ready which included Jeff, his two brothers and best friend. Lindsay had brought some wheat heads for us to get some shots she wanted of the rings on them which is something creative that we as photographers absolutely love!
The wedding ceremony was set up to look amazing by the team at the Oasis. I cannot mention enough the attention to detail! The guests were arriving and soon it was time for the ceremony to begin. Jeff's face when he saw Lindsay start to walk down the aisle was so beautiful. The ceremony was performed by Henry Madsen who gave a touching and funny service. The way he personalized it and told tidbits about Lindsay and Jeff was truly a nice touch. The songs that Lindsay chose to have played during their service were so beautiful that I have been listening to them ever since. Jeff and Lindsay also did a wheat ceremony - similar to the sand ceremony only the two different wheats were from the land that Lindsay was raised on and the land that Jeff was raised on.
After the ceremony, it was time for the formals and because of the amount of snow, it was decided that we would not go outside for them. Luckily, the Oasis is a beautiful venue inside and out so we were able to get some beautiful photos for them and then during the reception, we took them outside for a few night time shots with the snow still coming down.
The delicious meal was catered by Sawmill Catering and there was so much food. The beautiful cake was made by The Sweet Side and Scott Atkinson from Custom Sound Entertainment kept the music playing and the dance floor hopping through the night.
Thank you so much, Jeff and Lindsay and your incredible wedding party for allowing us to be a part of such an incredible day and to capture all the memories of it for you.
