A Snowy September but Very Beautiful Wedding with Jenny & Jared at the Freemason Hall

On Saturday, David and I headed downtown to Jenny's bridesmaid's home to photograph Jenny's getting ready shots. Jenny's dress was a classic and so beautiful with a rhinestone detail from Bridal Elegance. When we got there, hair and makeup was just being finished by Jessie and Kelsey from Red Deer who braved the very snowy roads to come to Edmonton. Jenny looked absolutely stunning as did her bridesmaids in their deep purple gowns. A touch of pearls around her neck added even more elegance to her gown. Jenny pinned a handkerchief with a piece of her grandmother's veil sewn on it by her mother and a ring from her other grandmother to the inside of her dress, which I thought was absolutely beautiful.

After we got the getting ready shots, we headed to the Freemason hall prior to the ceremony to get some shots of the ceremony hall as well as Jared and his groomsmen "getting ready" shots. Jared looked so awesome in his traditional Indian suit from Vadai Our in India which he got on the same trip as when he proposed to Jenny. We got to watch a video of the proposal during the reception and it was incredibly romantic - way to go, Jared! We also did a "first look" but not between the Bride and Groom, but between Jenny, her bridesmaids and the bouquets. You see, Jenny and Jared are friends of the owners of Bloomin' Buds and so she left the flowers completely in their hands and had not seen them until she got to the hall. They were so pretty!

The ceremony was officiated by Stan Mottershead and included two Mason's accompanying bride down the aisle carrying staffe along with following the bride and groom on their processional. Both the bride and groom said their own vows.

It was so snowy and cold that although we started formals at Government House, we soon decided to go some place warmer and less snowy for the remaining photos. I had suggested earlier to use Roger's Place as a back up as we had photographed another wedding there this summer and the windows in Ford Hall are absolutely stunning. Jared and Jenny decided to take us up on it and so we headed there.

After we headed back to the Freemason Hall for the reception. After the entrance of the wedding party, they went right into speeches followed by the video presentation and then a delicious meal catered by the hall. They had their own playlist for the dance and it kept the dance floor full. I absolutely loved their first dance song, "Dance Me To The End of Love" by Leonard Cohen. Their wedding cake was absolutely perfect for them - three old fashioned suitcases with a bride and groom in a boat as the cake topper. I apologize that I do not have the bakery who made the cake - but they did an fantastic job!
