This past Sunday, David and I headed to what most people would consider an odd place for engagement photos. However, I honestly did not even think it was odd in the least. In fact, I was quite excited. We headed to Evergreen Memorial Gardens (aka cemetery). You see, Kacie's parents live on cemetery land. Yes! Katie grew up being able to walk through a cemetery! One of my first questions to her was if she had ever had a party in the cemetery. The answer - yes! I mean, to me, that would be so cool to grow up with a cemetery as part of your back yard. Cemeteries are very well groomed and beautifully landscaped and so to me, it was a great spot to do engagement photos. And, I bet in most photos you would not even be able to tell that we were in a cemetery.
Kacie and Scott were so much fun to work with. Kacie is so personable and Scott has a great sense of humour. In fact, he sounds an awful lot like a photographer I work with (hint, hint, David). They had great smiles for all the photos, allowed us to just be creative and were patient with us as we looked for the spots we wanted to use. I mean, seriously! There were so many places we could pose them in! And, they even allowed us to take a photograph or two of the beautiful white ducks! I have never seen white ducks except on a farm, so I was over the moon when I saw these ones. Kacie said that her and her sister while growing up were able to hold the ducklings and that they could even go up and pet them because the ducks were so used to them. Not to say that these ducks weren't tame - both David and I had our legs and shoes nibbled on and one even tried to nibble my lens hood! LOL
We had a fantastic time getting to know a bit more about Kacie and Scott and are looking forward to photographing their wedding next year. Thank you so much for choosing us to capture these special moments in your lives.
