On Saturday, David and I were off to the Four Points By Sheraton on Ellerslie Road to photograph Megan's getting ready shots. The hotel room was buzzing with activity as hair was being done by Vikings Edge Hair Design and makeup by Jolene at Lily Grey Artistry. Both the ladies were fantastic and I would highly recommend them to any bride. All the flowers were made by the bride's mom Lavonne, Megan and David. They were so well done! Megan even had an owl in her bouquet - a hidden reference to Harry Potter, of course. Once we got all the getting ready shots, we were off to the Beaumont Community League for the ceremony and to meet up with David and his groomsmen. David had gotten all the guys the coolest Star Wars cuff links and tie clips. Megan is a HUGE Harry Potter fan and David is a HUGe Star Wars fan and they had little bits of both throughout their wedding. We had a fantastic time at their engagement session with this theme and I am thrilled to say I think we even topped that with their wedding.
Their wedding officiant was Sandra Thompson, whom we have worked with several times before. If you are looking for an officiant who is funny and sweet and who will throw some wedding advice into your ceremony, definitely give her a call! Megan surprised one of her family members by calling him to be her "flower man" and he was a huge hit with all the guests. Megan was walked down the aisle by her father and step father. I have to say that both Megan and David's entire family (including extended family) and friends were all so nice. We really enjoyed spending time with so many of them throughout the day.
After the ceremony, we were off to the Devon Voyageur park for the formals. What a fun time! The groomsmen kept us all laughing. In fact, my jaws actually hurt by the end of the formals from laughing so much. Megan had brought along two Harry Potter books which we gladly used in some of the photos. And, the way Megan and David looked at each other the entire day was so beautiful. These two are truly in love and made for each other.
The reception was back at the Beaumont Community hall with the meal catered by Elegant Affairs. I think everyone enjoyed the delicious meal and their staff were really great. I have to mention the cake - this cake was unbelievable. It had details of both Harry Potter and Star Wars on it - so amazingly done by Once Upon A Cake and the topper was an actual 3-D image of Megan and David taken after their engagement session at West Edmonton Mall. Amazing! The music and Photo Booth were by Revolution's and she was so much fun to work with!
One of my favourite parts of the night was taking Megan and David out to do some shots with her wand and his light sabre. Even though it wasn't quite dark yet, with some in camera "magic", we made it dark and the sky looked so awesome. We got some incredible shots of the bride and groom wielding their choice of "weapon."
Thank you so much Megan and David for allowing us to be a part of your day and capture all your amazing, touching moments. We wish you all the happiness in the world!
