On Saturday, David and I were off to photograph our first wedding of 2017! Dana and James had some very unique ideas for their wedding and they all turned out fantastic and made for a very beautiful wedding. We had met Dana and James initially through Dana's sister, Gina. Thank you so much for helping choose us to photograph this fantastic wedding! Gina is nine months pregnant, in fact, her due date is exactly 11 days after the wedding. She was such a trooper the entire day - I only wish I had half as much energy as she did with my pregnancies. Even at the reception, she was up and dancing!
We started off with Dana and her four bridesmaids getting ready along with Dana and Jame's daughter, Constance who was the beautiful flower girl. Dana's dress was beautiful with lots of beading and a beautiful veil to match. Dana chose the absolute cutest pair of Puma ivory runners which helped her to be comfortable the entire day! They were so awesome!
We then headed off to Garden Valley hall where the ceremony was taking place. We met James, his four groomsmen and Dana and Jame's nephew, Joey who was the ring bearer. The guys all looked very handsome in their tuxes and royal blue vests.
The ceremony was officiated by Janice Gordon who gave a beautiful ceremony. Dana and James had the idea to use a nintendo and game in their ceremony as they are both big gamers and they provided Janice with this amazing speech to give during the service of the symbolism to them regarding the game. It was very touching.
A big thank you to Kennedy Kozak who did a great job as their videographer and who made it so easy for us to do our job!
I have to mention the amazing bouquets and centrepieces! Dana and James made all of them - stunning roses made out of pages from a Stephen King novel called "Rose Matter." The time it must have taken to make them, I can't even imagine, but they were amazing! The centre pieces were made of up two of these roses in a vase placed along with a candle inside books that had places cut out for the vase and candle. All I can say is WOW!
After the ceremony, we headed to Dog Rump Creek park in Stony Plain to do the formals. This wedding party was so much fun to work with. Not only did we have them laughing (as David and I like to do) but they had us laughing as well. Thank you all for being so great!
We went back to the hall for the reception. The dinner was potluck - and was delicious. There were some Newfoundland delicacies for both the meal and the dessert as Dana's family has roots in Newfoundland. The music was provided by Grindstone DJ which kept people on the dance floor all night. Great job, guys! The gorgeous cake was made by a family friend, Doris Mills, who also made Dana's Mom and Dad's cake for their wedding!
Again, thank you so much for allowing us to capture the memories of your day, Dana and James! We truly enjoyed the day and both of your families are amazing and so welcoming.
