This past Saturday, David and I were off to Calmar to photograph Jazelle's getting ready shots at the Rhootser Tail Salon. This is one very cool salon and large. It was actually a great spot not only for the girls to get their hair and makeup done at but also where they got dressed as well. Jazelle's dress was absolutely amazing. The bling on the bodice, the sweetheart neckline, and the beading throughout was stunning. As if this wasn't enough, her jewelry was so beautiful as were her barefoot sandals with matching ones for her hands. And then, there was the floor length veil. Jazelle was a princess in every sense of the word. Each of the bridesmaids had beautiful floral wreaths and their floor length taupe coloured dresses made them look like wood nymphs. Jazelle told me that she wanted her wedding to have an earthy tone to it and with her attention to detail, it definitely did. Oh and did I mention that Jazelle also did all the bouquets, the boutonnieres and the centre pieces for the reception (well, okay, Fred also helped with these with the amazing wood detail along with the beautiful cake stand). The cake was done to look like a tree bark with their initials carved in a heart. Stunning job done by Cake Coutures and we discovered later in the evening that it tasted as good as it looked.
After we got some photos of the girls getting ready, we were off to the Alpine Gardens at the Devonian Gardens to get the guys shots and then photograph the ceremony. Mother Nature was definitely on her best behaviour for this wedding (and yes, I am sorry for threatening her before the wedding when it was sprinkling). It was a perfect overcast day and no rain!!! The ceremony site was the perfect spot for Jazelle's dream wedding. When the girls came down the rocky hill to the aisle, the lush greenery was the perfect backdrop for the colours of their dresses.
Oh, I should mention how adorable, Stella, the flower girl was in her dress! If ever there was an image of a perfect flower girl, it would be her. And speaking of little ones, their ring bearer, Kayze, was also a true professional. He took his job very seriously and did a fantastic job the entire day! Oh and he was absolutely adorable too!!!
The wedding ceremony was very touching with it all starting with Jazelle's Aunt Rosie and best friend, Jenny walking down the aisle with a tribute to Jazelle's mom and sister who were watching from heaven. Jazelle and Fred did a hand ceremony during their ceremony which we had not seen done before - another beautiful detail. Their ceremony was performed so eloquently by Jean Tkaczyk from Thanx on Time.
After the ceremony and family photos were done, we jumped on a golf cart and were off to the Japanese Gardens for their formals. David and I love this particular spot of the gardens. I was like a kid in a candy store filled with new ideas I wanted to try. There was one shot in particular where I wanted Jazelle's veil to blow a certain way. Well, Brandy, the maid of honour, hiked her dress up, ditched her shoes and went into the water so we could get the shot! Brandy helped so much during the photos, that I think David was worried for his job. LOL. That wouldn't happen, David - don't worry. Although, maybe we could use an assistant - hmmmm?
Oh and I cannot forget to mention the awesome car the bride and groom rode off in - check out the camero!!!!
I am always proud of the photos that we get for all our clients. David and I both try to go above and beyond and give everyone the best memories through photographs that we can. But, I must say that I am extremely proud of the photos we got for Jazelle and Fred. You both inspired us - thank you!
The reception was held at the Holiday Inn and Conference Centre. It was a plated dinner and it was delicious. Then it was time for speeches and dance. This bride and groom and her family knew how to dance. Well done, to all. The DJ -Advance DJ services was great at keeping everyone up on the dance floor.
Thank you, Jazelle and Fred for allowing us such a special honour of photographing your day and to your wedding party and family for making our job so easy.
