For some of my clients, you already know that my son, Mason is a budding photographer.  He comes with me on a lot of my outdoor shoots and helps carry equipment, etc.  But, this past summer, he also took a lot of candid shots in the background.  He is doing awesome and his goal is to be able to help me with weddings by the time he is 14.  Although, I think his true love is doing landscape photography.  This past summer, Mason took many shots and now has his own website where he is selling his images.  Keep in mind, he is only eleven years old!  The images will be updated on a regular basis as he updates his portfolio.  I hope that you will check it out.  His site is:  http://photographyboy.imagekind.com

With digital photography comes the opportunity for digital backdrops.  The things we can do with those are amazing.  Christmas is the perfect time of the year to make use of some amazing digital backdrops.  I tossed around the idea of putting an actual Christmas set in the studio, but then came across some beautiful digital Christmas backdrops.  Nothing I could put into the studio would actually compare to these.  I also added a few more digital backgrounds to our studio inventory as well.   The above photo is of my daughter in her Halloween costume taken against a black backdrop with a digital background dropped in.

I love every type of photography.  However, the ones that are closest to my heart are the ones that involve newborns.  From pregnancy, through to childbirth and then the newborn photos.  This is such a special time in a couple's life.  And, as a mother myself, I know that this time can go by in the blink of an eye.  It is so important to capture all the details so that when your baby becomes a toddler and then all of a sudden a teenager, you have a beautiful image story of that special, fleeting time.  When I approach these types of shoots, I always think of it from a parent's perspective.  The images that I would want to have to look back on throughout the years.  The details you want to remember - the beautiful baby belly, the look exchanged between mother and father after seeing their newborn for the very first time, the tiny feet, tiny fingers, how small their newborn actually looked in daddy's arms.

I was very honored to be asked to photograph a wedding on Vancouver Island last month.  We were also very lucky in that we got to use the entire grounds of the Aerie Resort.  It was breaktaking every where you looked.  At the highest point, the views of the ocean were spectacular.
